As a result of road casualties, amphibian populations are likely to suffer local extinctions, especially where roads intercept routes towards reproductive ponds. The longer the time amphibians take to cross roads, the higher the risk of being runover. A 12 m wide road is crossed in 30 sec by Rana temporaria, and in 5-21 min by Bufo bufo. A 40 cars/hours traffic is supposed to half the probability of a safe cross by Bufo bufo. Mitigation measures.

Como consecuencia de los atropellos, las poblaciones de anfibios son susceptibles de sufrir extinciones locales, especialmente donde las vías cruzan rutas hacía las charcas donde se reproducen.
