Estudio previo de afecciones a la fauna silvestre en la autovía el Norte.

This is a report of almost two years of data collection of road kills on a highway in Navarra province (N Spain). One hundred and sixty-six casualties were recorded, with a decrease in winter and a peak in spring. Identification of black spots. Although killed at low frequencies, some species had a special interest, being rare or endangered (Felis silvestris, Mustela lutreola, Genetta genetta). It is suggested that the local wild cat population could be affected by this highway also by isolation. The abundance of wild boar (Sus scrofa) and roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) makes them prone to be involved in many car accidents, although most casualties regard domestic animals. Mitigation measures.
