The Information System of the Inventory of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity (IEPNB) reinforces spatial information with the implementation of the: Territorial information subsystem, called EIKOS, verisimilitude in Greek.

The launch of EIKOS means having a platform capable of storing, analyzing, consulting and disseminating the territorial information necessary to monitor and model ecosystems. Specifically, the following objectives are pursued:

  • Knowledge of the territory with the integration of the best available information.
  • Have a single territorial base, thematically coherent and spatially continuous.
  • Have an automatic alert system for changes that represent an alteration in the territory.
  • Have a series of tools that allow simulations and future projections in different scenarios.
  • Obtaining specific thematic products, produced on demand for the application of national and European policies (MFE-FF, Ecosystems or MAES).
  • Have interoperable services with other existing platforms, particularly with SIGPAC (SIEX), IGN and Cadastre.

To achieve these objectives, the Anomalies and Early Warning Module has been launched to detect changes in forest ecosystems.
