On Saturday, February 24, the campaign requested by the Autonomous Agency for National Parks (OAPN), part of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), to explore the biodiversity of the deep seabed around the island concluded. The work was funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).

The Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) census carried out in Spain and Portugal during 2023 has shown that the species has surpassed the 2,000 mark, marking a new record high since detailed population monitoring began. This is reflected in the report prepared by the Iberian lynx working group, coordinated by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) and composed of representatives from the Spanish autonomous communities and the Portuguese Institute for Nature and Forest Conservation (ICNF).
