An initiative coordinated by MITECO concludes with 3,400 data points collected to contribute to marine environmental management.

A total of 3,400 data collected by participants in the "Volunteering for Biodiversity in Andalusia" initiative, promoted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), will be validated by the scientific community and transferred to the Nature Data Bank managed by MITECO and to various information platforms with the aim of expanding knowledge about marine biodiversity to contribute to the effective management of marine protected areas.

The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), through the Directorate General for Biodiversity, Forests and Desertification and the Biodiversity Foundation, participated in a series of events for journalists held at the Oceanogràfic in Valencia, where the series of initiatives implemented within the framework of the LIFE INTEMARES project for the conservation of sea turtles were presented.

The Ibero-American Network of Biodiversity Directors will contribute to preserving the natural wealth of Ibero-America.

Within the framework of the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), currently being held in Cali, Colombia, the Ibero-American Network of Biodiversity Directors has been reactivated. This forum aims to promote, through cooperation and the exchange of experiences and information, joint action to halt biodiversity loss, one of the greatest challenges facing the planet.

The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) is organizing and coordinating a rescue operation for an entangled killer whale (Orcinus orca) in coordination with the Maritime Service and the Nature Protection Service of the Civil Guard; the Maritime Rescue and Safety Society (SASEMAR); the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine; and the organizations CIRCE, Sea Observer, Sea Shepherd France, WeWhale, and FIRMM.
